Spartans announce 3rd DP for 2015 season

Today, the Chairman announced that the Spartans are pleased to announce the clubs third Designated Player, utilizing their newly acquired DP slot - German born U.S. national team stalwart Jermaine Jones. Jermaine Jones was the driving engine behind the U.S. team's run in the 2014 World Cup, Jermaine joins fellow US National team veterans Clint Dempsey and Graham Zusi as Spartan DP's and forms one-third of the midfield core.

Spartans Announce Second DP for 2015 Season

Toda, the Chairman announced that Clint Dempsey would be returning to the Spartans line-up for the 2015 season as a Designated Player. Clint Dempsey scored 13 points in the 2014 BSL season, including a hat-trick in the week five win against the Alamo City Battle. Clint then traveled to Brazil with the US National team and was a key member of that squad, before returning to help the club win its first BSL champsionship. Welcome back Clint!!!

Spartans Announce First DP for 2015 season

Today, the Chairman announced that the Spartans 1612 football club signed Graham Zusi to his third designated player contract in as many seasons.

Zusi was the Spartans first round draft pick in their inaugural season and has been a mainstay in the Spartans starting lineup ever since. In 2012, Zusi led the team with 13 points for the Spartans in 20 starts, earning five man-of-the-match honors and team MVP. In 2013, Zusi contributed 9 points to his team's winning record, including a week 1 hat trick. In 2014, including a long spell away from the Squad for World Cup duty, Zusi scored 8 points en route to a BSL Championship winning season, including a club and league leading 10 game wining streak.

Spartans Win BSL Championship, Start of Dynasty

New York, NY

On Sunday the Spartans 1612 Football Club celebrated its penalty kick victory over the Zodiac in the 2014 BSL Championship. The match was the highest scoring and most intense BSL Final in the league's history, and was a brutal back and forth flurry of scores from both teams. It was a true team effort as seven different field players contributed to the box score. The Chairman expressed his delight on Sunday by giving the entire team significant bonuses for their season long effort, and also commended the Zodiac for their effort and dedication. With the core of the Spartan's midfield expected to return next season, this could be the start of a dynasty of success and positive results for the young club.

BSL Finals Preview and Lineup (W-P is captain)

The Spartans are a club of haves and have nots. The club has the Golden Boot winner the last two years The club has the record for the most ties in a season and the longest winning streak. The club does not have any major silverware. Spartans will hope to change that when they take on the OC Zodiac, a club that has seen a lot of success in its two years in the league but also lacks silverware.
