Draft Day Controversy - Gold Coast

Chairman declares a fatwa against Gold Coast.

New York, NY.

Today the Chairman filed a complaint with the Commissioner regarding dirty tactics in the draft. Theres Russian doping, Astro's Sign Stealing, and of course deflate gate, but all of these pale in comparison to the draft day spying allegedly committed by Gold Coast against the Spartans. Said the chairman, "When you look at the draft, its clear that GC was spying on our draft day team. We were going to take Sam Johnson in the 4th round, and GC takes him in the Third! We were going to grab Diomande in the 6th and GC takes him in the 5th! Normally, you could say that was luck but the guy is hurt and won't play until at least week 8! Its clear that they had a mole in our organization, and that mole was sharing our draft strategy with the opposition." He then spat at and plugged a few nails into his Gold Coast Voodoo doll.

The chairman instructed his players to tackle "cleats up" in the match against GC in Week 5.

Chairman gets his man!

With the 1st pick in the 2020 draft the Spartans chose Chicharito, the 31 year old Mexican striker. Chicharito is Mexico's all time goal scoring leader and the Spartans will look for an immediate impact.

With their second pick Spartans chose Luis Amarilla, a 24 year old striker with a nose for the net. Like in past seasons where the Spartans identified the eventual Golden Boot winner upon their entry into the league (Camillo Sanvezzo, Bradley Wright Phillips), Amarilla will be in contention for a spot high up the goal scoring table if he receives good service and stays healthy.

Also, in addition to these new players, the Chairman also renewed the contract for Latin Blessing and signed Saphir Taider to the Spartans roster. The draft continues tomorrow...

Ruidiaz, Gressell named as Spartans DP's

Following in the shoes of club legends such as Clint Dempsey, Graham Zusi, Jermaine Jones, Bradley Wright Phillips and Ola Kamara, the Chairman today announced that it will name dynamic playmaker Julian Gressel and aspiring rat-tail wearer Raul Ruidiaz as Designated Players.

The Chairman also indicated that the club is very interested in "Chicharito" for its #1 draft pick, but the club staff also mentioned Jurgen Loccadia and Alan Pulido are still in contention.

Trade Offer

The Chairman made an offer of draft pick #5 for Igancio Piatti of Gateway United. Even though he was used sparingly in 2019, the Impact's new head coach Thierry Henry confirmed that they would exercise Piatti's final option for the 2020 season. Even if there is no juice left in those legs, the Chairman believes Piatti is the right kind of personality to have around the locker room.
